Centre Point

Centre Point is a national treasure. London’s iconic skyscraper has undergone a transformation into exclusive residences, offering unrivalled panoramic views across the capital.

The Icon

One of London’s best known landmarks, Centre Point has been used as Londoners 'North Star' since its arrival in the 60's.

The architect behind the icon, Colonel Richard Seifert, built a number of buildings in London. While many were considered controversial at the time, they have since come to be recognised as design classics worth preserving.

The Heritage

Centre Point was built in 1966 and is one of the great works of modern architecture. The building was commissioned by renowned developer Harry Hyams and designed by Richard Seifert. When it was created it captured the adventurous spirit of 1960's London, which has inspired the design of Centre Point’s transformation.

Its status as a national treasure was confirmed when it became protected by English Heritage thanks to the exceptional, and pioneering design of the building.

The Square

The new public square at the base of the tower will be lined with contemporary cafes and restaurants, while Londons' newest cinema and theatre complexes are soon to join the neighbourhood.

Within the 15,000 square feet of open space is direct access to the high speed railway Crossrail, allowing residents to travel to Heathrow airport in under 30 minutes from next year.

The New Culinary Destination

London’s newest range of high-end food and beverage retailers are joining the square.

The place to go for handmade fresh pasta, pizza and protein packed salads.

The restaurant is spacious with a buzzing atmosphere you’ll order your meal directly with the chefs who will make the dish exactly as you like it, right in front of you and with the smart card payment system – no splitting bills!

The transformation of Centre Point involves giving the landmark a new lease of life and celebrating its iconic identity. The national treasure was brought to life through key collaborations that represent the unique nature of Centre Point.

Centre Point +
Eley kishimoto

As part of celebrating its character, Centre Point formed a collaboration with renowned print designer Eley Kishimoto, which resulted in a set of distinctive patterns representing Centre Point’s iconic design and architectural flair.

The patterns have been applied to a number of art forms including the building wrap, which features the ‘Private Views’ pattern.

Centre Point +

A further collaboration was formed with Anglepoise, the quintessentially British brand and Eley Kishimoto. The partnership resulted in a unique series of striking new editions of the Original 1227™ desk lamp which are embellished with the exclusive Eley Kishimoto print designs.

Printed in monochromatic shades of black, white and grey, the geometry of the patterns reflect the way shadow and sunlight fall on the building and emphasise its powerful sixties aesthetic. While the patterns are all inspired by the distinctive textures and form of Centre Point, the ergonomic simplicity of the Anglepoise lamps reflects the building’s engineering majesty.

Centre Point +

The geometry of the Centre Point patterns made it the perfect design to be applied to Gilbert’s rugby balls, the official ball for the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England. The Centre Point rugby balls make a perfect gift and are being used in rugby matches across London.

Rick Mather Architects

Established in 1973, Rick Mather Architects has a reputation for delivering innovative projects encompassing architecture, masterplanning and urban design. Award-winning projects include the Southbank Centre Masterplan, the renovation and extension of the Dulwich Picture Gallery, the Wallace Collection, the National Maritime Museum in London, The Times Newspaper headquarters in London’s Docklands, private residences in Hampstead and the Zen restaurants in London, Montreal and Hong Kong.

Centre Point stands firmly in the tradition of Le Corbusier’s modernism of the 1930s, which is also evident in the work of Oscar Niemeyer and Gio Ponti’s Pirelli building in Milan. They share the same fascination with interlocking forms, and the relationship between vertical and horizontal. It is a building of historic importance, but its spirit is always forward-looking.
