The luxury shopping experience – Selfridges

They say you can almost find anything at Selfridges & Co. When Harry Gordon Selfridge arrived from Chicago in London back in 1906, he sought to open his dream store and revolutionise the meaning of the shopping experience in the heart of the capital.

With a strong understanding of publicity, his theatre of retail helped launch Selfridges as one of the most successful and desirable stores in the UK.

The luxury shopping experience here is one which promises to deliver and inspire. Selfridges isn’t about opening your pockets to its offerings, its about finding something unique and desirable for the home, to wear and remember. At every turn, when you pass through its central doors on Oxford Street, you will find surprise and extraordinary experiences.

Since its opening, stores have come to be opened in both Manchester and Birmingham alongside a booming online presence. Today, owned by W. Galen Weston and his family, the theatre of retail strides on in the spirit of founder Harry Gordon Selfridge, with a hint of yellow.
