Changing fortunes: Centre Point and Crossrail are the first fruits of Tottenham Court Road’s dramatic transformation

More than 50 years ago Centre Point was launched as a 33-storey office tower, a new landmark on the West End skyline. It was a short-lived triumph that rapidly faded.

Centre Point lit up at night

The tower has remained largely empty for most of its life, sitting on a forlorn site next to Tottenham Court Road Tube at the wrong end of Oxford Street.

But its fortunes are changing as Centre Point is transformed into 82 homes of Sixties-inspired luxury flats designed by Conran and Partners, to set a new tone in this area for residential development.
