London offers some fantastic shopping from luxurious department stores such as Harrods and Liberty to the high-end shopping streets on Bond and Sloane Streets. We highlight some of the best luxury brand boutiques around Centre Point.
Chanel – Covent Garden Market, WC1A
Chanel appeared in Covent Garden in 2012, opening a pop-up perfume and cosmetics boutique. The store proved so popular that it stayed and has become the label’s first standalone beauty store in the U.K.
The boutique is adorned with beautiful perfume bottles and the latest make-up products, making it impossible to walk by without stepping inside. The classic, iconic brand offers exclusive services from the world’s leading makeup artists, nail technicians, fragrance experts and one-off beauty events are a regular feature.
The Chanel Le Vernis Nail shape and paint bar, adorned floor to ceiling in supersized Le Vernis bottles is a highlight; book a 30-minute appointment and try any and all of Chanel’s shades before leaving with the immaculate Chanel manicure.
Burberry – King Street and Covent Garden Market, WC1A
Following the arrival of Chanel in Covent Garden, the area has seen a number of other luxury brands follow, including Burberry.
The venerable British brand known for its trench coats, cashmere scarves and iconic check is on King Street, which is fast-becoming the home of contemporary luxury in Covent Garden. The store offers the full range of Burberry’s ready to wear for men and women including outerwear and denim.
For devotees of Burberry’s increasingly popular cosmetics range, the label has opened a Beauty Box Bar, which can also be found in Covent Garden. Burberry cosmetics marry the design and colour signatures from its clothing line and the Beauty Box offers the opportunity to mix, match and box make-up, fragrances and accessories as well as book personalised beauty consultations in store. The store also unveils a colour trend each month in a capsule collection of make-up products.
Mulberry – Royal Opera House Arcade, WC1A
Mulberry has recently opened a new boutique next to the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. Mulberry’s collections are inspired by the cool of the city and the craft of the countryside; their stylish, but functional products – leather goods and accessories for men and women – are showcased at this Covent Garden store.
Dior Beauty – Covent Garden Market, WC1A
Dior Beauty at Covent Garden is the fashion house’s first standalone beauty store in Britain. Step into the graphic black lacquered boutique and find the full range of Dior’s much-loved cosmetics and skincare products as well as exclusive products and a series of events.
Bespoke services are available including private make-up parties, consultations with Dior colour experts for advice on couture to ready-to-wear and nail art inspired by Raf Simons’s catwalk collections.
Liberty of London – Regent Street, W1B 5AH
Located off Regent Street in a Tudor revival building, Liberty of London is like an intimate stately home with its labyrinth of interconnecting, wooden-beam rooms, fire places and wooden staircases. As a visitor, it is easy to feel lost in the warren of small galleries, but wandering around the store, particularly at Christmas time when fairy lights adorn the ceiling, is a real joy.
The store showcases the best international luxury brands in women’s, men’s and children’s fashion, cosmetics, fragrances and jewellery as well as its own, iconic Liberty print collections. Liberty also regularly showcases and sponsors new designers, offering cutting-edge style.
Liberty of London may be eccentric, but it is an iconic London shopping landmark.
